  • In this course, the students will explore the 7 R objectives of data platform modernization . They will learn the reasons why they should choose each objective and why each objective is most suitable for a variety of different business requirements. Students will also explore each phase of the data platform modernization process and define what tasks are involved at each stage. The student will explore the assessment, planning and migration tools available. The student will learn the capabilities of these tools and how they are suitable for each phase of the data migration process. They will also learn how, and when, to implement a range of the tools. The student will explore three target platforms for SQL based workloads; Azure Virtual Machines, Azure SQL Databases and Azure SQL Managed Instances. The student will learn the benefits and limitations of each target for SQL based workloads and fulfil the business requirements for modern SQL based workloads.
  • Audience
  • The student will implement a variety of tools to migrate SQL data to the target platform. The student will discover the suitability of the existing SQL based application for migration, assess what changes need to be made, plan how to implement the changes and migrate the SQL data to the target platform. The student will explore the changes that may need to be made to existing SQL based applications so that they can make best use of modern data platforms in Azure.

    The audience for this course is data professionals and data architects who want to learn about migrating data platform technologies that exist on Microsoft Azure and how existing SQL based workloads can be migrated and modernized. The secondary audience for this course is individuals who manage data platforms or develop applications that deliver content from the existing data platform technologies

Prerequisites

  • Successful students start this role with a fundamental knowledge of cloud computing concepts and professional experience in implementing SQL solutions.

    Working with and maintaining SQL workloads
    Experience with Azure, such as deploying and managing resources
